Several hundred families in precarious circumstances have received food assistance in Uvira, South Kivu, thanks to the GISARO MUHOZA Foundation.
Led by its president, Béatrice Gisaro Sine, the organisation distributed food supplies on Monday to around 450 households in various neighbourhoods of the town. The initiative comes amid a difficult socio-economic context in which many families are struggling to meet their basic needs.
Essential goods and a message of cohesion
The aid consisted of maize flour, rice, beans, vegetable oil and salt. Printed wrap cloths bearing the likeness of Mr Gisaro were also given to some people. Several tribal mutual associations were among the beneficiaries of this initiative.
Taking the floor, the president of the foundation emphasised solidarity and mutual aid as drivers of social stability. _“Tensions exist wherever human beings live, but it is essential to know how to manage them and resolve them peacefully”_, she said, calling for mutual tolerance and peaceful coexistence. She reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to continuing its support for the most deprived.
Béatrice Gisaro Sine explained that this act of compassion aims to bring relief to a population hard hit by insecurity and natural disasters, including the floods that struck the Nyamianda neighbourhood last weekend.
Gratitude from local communities
On behalf of the beneficiaries, the community elder Ngulwe Mukonda, president of the Intercommunity Barza, expressed the gratitude of the communities of Uvira.
