Strengthening Communities through Sustainable Initiatives

The Gisaro Muhoza Foundation (FGM Asbl) places food security and community development at the heart of its priorities in order to contribute to the lasting improvement of the living conditions of vulnerable populations.

Faced with the challenges of food insecurity, climate change, rural poverty and a lack of economic opportunities, the Foundation develops agricultural, pastoral and environmental initiatives designed to strengthen the self-reliance of local communities and promote sustainable development.

Our objectives

Through this programme, the Foundation aims to:

  • Strengthen the food security of vulnerable households;
  • Support local agricultural and pastoral activities;
  • Promote modern, environmentally friendly farming practices;
  • Encourage the economic empowerment of rural communities;
  • Preserve natural resources and protect the environment;
  • Foster the creation of income-generating activities for young people and women.

Community agriculture

The Foundation supports communities through:

  • The distribution of improved seeds and agricultural inputs;
  • Technical support for farmers;
  • The creation of community fields;
  • Training in modern and sustainable farming techniques;
  • The promotion of crops suited to local conditions.

Livestock farming and pastoral activities

To strengthen families’ livelihoods, the Foundation supports:

  • Community livestock projects;
  • Veterinary and animal health support;
  • Training for livestock farmers;
  • Income-generating animal production initiatives.

Environmental protection

The Foundation also works to preserve the environment through:

  • Reforestation campaigns;
  • Awareness-raising on the protection of ecosystems;
  • Combating deforestation and erosion;
  • The promotion of ecological and sustainable practices.

A community-centred approach

The Gisaro Muhoza Foundation favours a participatory approach based on the active involvement of beneficiary communities. Each project is designed to meet people’s real needs while making the most of local resources and capacities.

We believe that sustainable development depends on communities that are self-reliant, resilient and able to build their own future.

Our commitment

Through its agricultural, pastoral and environmental initiatives, FGM Asbl reaffirms its commitment to:

  • The fight against hunger and poverty;
  • Sustainable rural development;
  • The protection of the environment;
  • The improvement of people’s living conditions;
  • The promotion of solidarity and community resilience.

Together, let us build strong, productive communities looking towards a sustainable future.
